THE CASTLE:
Bazzano’s history is deeply bonded with that its castle. It was originally built before 1000 a.D. The castle, as it look today was built between 1473 and 1490 by Giovanni II Bentivoglio. After the Bentivoglio’s period, the castle came into possession of the free city of Bologna and troughtout the centuries was used as the seqat the Mountain Command, court of justice, barracks, hospital, and private houses.

THE MUSEUM:
The museum was founded in 1873 as a Museum of Social Exavation of the Society for Archeological Exavation with Scientific Purpouse. Today the museum is located in the Bentivoglio’s castle, occupying four rooms on the first floor and another one the ground floor.

ROUND THE CITY:
Round about city there are some interesting places. Between Bazzano and Castelfranco is the oratory of Sabbionara, built in 1630 as a tanksgiving after plague. In the surrouding country side there are many villas, like Villa del Gandolfo, with a little Oratory. Villa Tanari is especially worth mentioning, being mentioned in ancient documents as long ago as 1667
